My Worst Critic

Wed Nov 25, 2009, 11:56 AM
I think we are all our own worst critic. Yesterday I was feeling like chucking it all. No not as in my suicide shots but chucking self photography, well photography all together. I wanted to re-shoot my birthday series. Initially I was only unhappy with peaches but as I look over them again I think pears is the only one that is any good. I find it a little discouraging that peaches received the most views and pears received the least. Well there's no accounting for taste. I realize we all have our preferences and people come to this site for a variety of reasons. I'm OK with that.

Everyone I've come in contact with through this site has been kind or helpful and I appreciate that. I have read comments on other pages and know that is not always the case with other artists. It's just a matter of time and chance I'm sure, before I receive a post that says "this is not art", or worse. I am ready for that and even a bit surprised it hasn't happened yet, Well there is nothing a critic could say that I haven't already thought of. Thus, I am my own worst critic. I post my work as a documentation of my journey through life. By you taking the time to read or view what I have posted you are sharing your journey with me. Thank you for that.

Yesterday I was ready to delete everything I had posted but today I woke feeling refreshed and ready to start again. I'm even itching to set up the camera again., so we'll see what happens next.
Thanks for sharing the journey.
